A "self-proclaimed" underdog and MTV Desi appointed "Hundred Dolla Debutante," Monica Rush is open to all name-calling. Known for her buzz single "100 Dolla Bill" that made its way into the downtown NYC scene early 2010, Monica Rush is no newbie to the music industry.
Taken under the wing of grammy-award winning producer Cory Rooney (Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Jessica Simpson, etc) early on, Monica gained a strong foundation in production, evident in her works. Always faithful, Monica's unique sound has been craft over the past 6 years with production partner Kobayashi and vocal producer McJosh. She describes her sound as a mash-up of electronic, funk, the color grey, and a dollop of multiple personality disorder. Having personally received daps from industry legends such as Q-Tip (A Tribe Called Quest), and DJ Class, both of whom she credits as her influences, she maintains that "Fade Into You" by Mazzy Star is the best song ever composed.
An interesting fact about Monica: You know the song "Bad Girl" by Britney Spears featuring Lil' Wayne that's managed to make its way to radio and accrue well over 5 million hits on Youtube? That was written and co-produced by Monica! The release of The Simple Life LP symbolizes 4 years of industry suffocation, and well, she's ready to breathe once and for all.
